He is portrayed wearing a bright red robe enriched with elaborate gold details, together with a cloak featuring an ornate collar and a white turban with a red tip that distinguishes him from the other Wise Men. In his right hand, he holds a precious golden container representing myrrh, one of the three gifts offered to Jesus. His posture, with his left arm extended and a welcoming expression, suggests a gesture of offering and homage. Balthazar is traditionally regarded as the king from Africa, bearing one of the most symbolic gifts presented to the Infant Jesus.
