The set portrays the Three Wise Men, the central figures of the Epiphany, as they journey to present their gifts to the Infant Jesus. The Wise Man on the left, dressed in blue and green garments beneath an ornate cloak, offers gold, symbolising Christ's kingship. At the centre, kneeling and clothed in soft pink robes, the second Wise Man presents frankincense, representing Christ's divinity.
