Each figure is traditionally handmade, from the plaster casting to the hand-painted decoration, following techniques handed down through three generations. This figure depicts a traveller, or shepherd, walking along the road, a traditional character often found in Nativity scenes. He wears a wide-brimmed blue hat, a grey jacket, brown knee-length trousers, light-colored stockings, and sturdy black shoes suitable for long journeys. Resting on his shoulder, he carries a travel sack attached to a walking stick, while his other arm is bent as if striding forward with determination. His face, framed by a short beard and an attentive expression, conveys both the weariness of the journey and the resolve to reach the stable in Bethlehem. The base, painted in black with green highlights, evokes the grassy, rolling landscape of the Christmas countryside.
